Elevated Corridor

Guwahati is the gateway to the North East of India as well as South East Asia. Due to the immense potential of Guwahati city in respect of Medical Infrastructures, Educational Institutions, commercial activities etc. thousands of people daily visit this city. There are many important roads within Guwahati city and traffic volume on this roads are increasing enormously day by day.
GNB Road is a very busy and traffic heavy road of Guwahati city which witnesses many vehicles travelling to &fro all the time. Many of these vehicles use this road just to go further areas like  Fancy Bazar, Maligaon etc. and on the other way towards Noonmati, Narengi etc. as there is no other alternative road.To minimise this traffic flow and to make a substitute of alternate road, the Govt of Assam has decided to construct an elevated corridor over GNB road starting near Reserve Bank of India and moving over Noonmati near Hanuman Mandir (FCI Godown). To make the commuter of Rajgarh road easier, an extended arm on Rajgarh road is also proposed.A roundabout is proposed at the junction of existing Chandmari Flyover and elevated corridor junction at chandmari. This elevated corridor after completion will not only ease traffic of city but it will help in  socio economic development of Assam. New employment opportunities in terms of  direct and indirect  employment in steel cement industry will increase. Overall Length of the Bridgeis  5443.20 m.

The length of the arms of the flyover are as follows:
A. GNB Road = 4423.20m
B. Tayabullah Road = 390.00m
C. West Dighalipukhuri Road = 250.00m
D. Rajgarh Arm = 380.00m

The carriageway width of the flyover are as follows :
A. GNB Road = 4 Lane (2 x 7.50 m)
B. Rajgarh Arm = 2 Lane (7.00m)
C. Tayabullah Road = 2 Lane (7.00m)
D. West Dighalipukhuri Road = 2 Lane (7.00m)
