The Central Road Fund was established by the Parliament by law (Central Road Fund Act 2000) in order to fund the development of State highways, Major District Roads, etc. The Fund is utilised for projects relating to the construction and development of State Roads including roads of inter-State connectivity and of economic importance, but excluding the RuralRoads, and to be identified in accordance with CRF rules. Priority is given on the potential roads which are considered as important from the perspective of declaration as new National Highways.
